The Abyssal Empress is a stylized fantasy character concept I’m developing as part of a larger collection of original fantasy figures.
The design explores an ancient and mysterious queen from an otherworldly realm, combining exaggerated forms, ornamental shapes, and dark mystical elements to create a distinctive silhouette and strong visual identity. My goal was to approach the character with a stylized collectible aesthetic, focusing on shape language, proportions, and expressive details rather than realism.
The character was primarily sculpted in ZBrush, where I developed the anatomy, clothing, armor, accessories, and smaller ornamental details. Maya, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop were used as supporting tools during the modeling and design process to refine and organize specific elements of the character.
I also created the character’s colors and surface details directly in ZBrush, using polypaint to establish the stylized look and emphasize the different materials and ornamental areas.
The final presentation and renders were created in Blender, where I worked on the lighting, materials, composition, and overall presentation of the character.
This is an ongoing exploration and the beginning of a larger fantasy character collection. I want to continue developing this world through stylized characters with distinctive silhouettes, intricate designs, and a strong sense of mythology.
